Cathedral of San Pedro - Jaca (Huesca)
Historical-artistic review
The Cathedral of San Pedro de Jaca, the first great Romanesque construction of the Iberian Peninsula and a fundamental monument in the history of the Kingdom of Aragon, is one of the fundamental milestones of Romanesque art in Aragon and on the route of the Way of Santiago from Somport. Built between the end of the 11th and the beginning of the 12th century, it is a clear exponent of the Romanesque Lombard in Spain, characterized by its robust walls, half-point arches and ornamental decoration based on blind arches and Lombard bands. Its Latin cross plant and main tower mark visual and spiritual milestones for pilgrims who travel this historic stretch of the Way.
