Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela - (A Coruña, Galicia)

Historical-artistic review

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is one of the most emblematic monuments of medieval Christianity and the main destination of the Way of Santiago. Its construction began in the 11th century, under the Romanesque style, and was expanded and transformed with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements throughout the centuries. Conceived to house the tomb of the Apostle James the Major, the cathedral combines an imposing Latin cross plant with a Baroque monumental façade and an interior of great sculptural and symbolic wealth, constituting a first-class spiritual and architectural milestone in Europe.

The model

Among all the models, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela occupies a privileged place. Not only does it represent the final destiny of the pilgrims of the Way of Santiago, it also reflects centuries of history, architectural styles and artistic wealth. The model allows us to appreciate, on a small scale, the grandiosity of its facade and the monumental nature that has made this temple a spiritual and cultural reference for visitors from all over the world.

The representation aims to convey the monumental presence of the cathedral, capturing both the formal aspects and the symbolic character that this building exercises on pilgrims and visitors.
